Washington, D.C. — With horrific job loss numbers, tens of thousands of deaths due to coronavirus, 43 million Americans at risk of losing their health insurance, and police officers, firefighters and first responders around the country at risk of layoffs because of state revenue shortfalls, Americans need additional rescue legislation immediately.

But Politico reports today that the White House is not looking to move on another rescue package for six to eight more weeks.

The House is set to release their bill later this week that will include relief to states, extensions of unemployment and SNAP benefits and desperately needed money for the postal service.

The Senate? Nowhere to be found — because in Majority Leader McConnell’s corrupt Senate, after he’s delivered billions in handouts for big corporations and tried to sweep insider trading by Senators Burr and Loeffler under the rug, he’s turned his focus to rewarding his cronies with judicial nominations for unqualified nominees who want to exacerbate the healthcare crisis in this country by overturning the Affordable Care Act and ignoring the pandemic unfolding in front of him.

"Rather than fight for the American people, McConnell's Republican caucus would be indistinguishable from a room of empty chairs if they weren’t trying too hard to jam through anti-health care judges,” said Joshua Karp of Fix Our Senate. “It’s unconscionable that the Majority Leader of the United States Senate would think it’s acceptable to completely ignore a public health and economic crisis unfolding right in front of him, but here we are. McConnell needs to treat this crisis with the urgency the millions of working families desperately need him to treat it with.”
