Despite Tens of Millions Unemployed, McConnell Says Republicans “Have Not Yet Felt the Urgency of Acting Immediately"

Washington, DC — Today, Fix Our Senate announced a new, interactive online game that shines a spotlight on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's obstruction of the additional coronavirus rescue legislation the American people need.

The game, called "McConnell’s Debacle," is a choose-your-own-adventure-style interactive story in which you can live a day in the life of a first responder, rideshare driver, grocery store cashier, and other essential employees — or as a corporate executive or a U.S. Senator.

In Mitch McConnell’s America, if he continues to get his way, this game — which is real life for millions of Americans — ends very differently depending on who you are.

• First, McConnell created a half-trillion dollar slush fund for corporations and special interests in the CARES Act, neglecting the needs of families and small businesses to appease his corporate donors.
   
• Then, McConnell shut the door on additional support for working Americans, and struggling cities and states, promising to "hit pause" on further legislation and saying he doesn't feel the "urgency of acting."
   
• Now, McConnell continues to obstruct the House's HEROES Act, insisting on protections for big corporations that force employees to work in unsafe conditions to please his special interest donors — all while one in four Americans lack sick leave, tens of millions of Americans are unemployed, and frontline health care workers don’t have adequate PPE and are at risk of being laid off.
