Groups Working on Climate, Gun Violence Prevention, LGBTQ+ Equality, and More Call for End to the Filibuster
Washington, DC — Today, Fix Our Senate announced over 40 new organizations have signed on to the campaign to eliminate the Senate filibuster. Groups focused on voting rights, the climate crisis, gun violence prevention, health care, immigration, labor, LGBTQ+ rights and more are joining forces as bills continue to pass the House and face certain filibuster in the Senate. The campaign to eliminate the filibuster is also expanding as a growing number of Senate Democrats voice concerns that the filibuster is preventing them from delivering on their promises.
"The campaign to Fix Our Senate is growing every single day as activists and advocates across the country realize that progress is only possible if the filibuster is eliminated,” said Eli Zupnick, spokesman for Fix Our Senate. “Senate Democrats face a choice: stand with the growing number of voices across the country who expect progress and results, or protect an outdated and abused Senate rule that has held back progress for far too long.”
