Washington, D.C. — When the Senate returns to Washington today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will be directing his Republican Senators to continue the confirmation of unqualified, right-wing extremist judges like Justin Walker and others who are hostile to the Affordable Care Act and will protect McConnell’s special interest and corporate donors.
During the most deadly pandemic in a century, McConnell’s Senate is working as hard as ever to reward drug and insurance companies at the expense of access to affordable health care for millions of Americans.
This is McConnell’s priority over sending a lifeline to states staring down revenue shortfalls that will force them to lay off police officers, firefighters, and teachers. In McConnell’s corrupt Senate, protecting his donors in the courts comes before the needs of frontline healthcare and essential workers in the middle of a public health crisis.
"McConnell’s motto for this year has been ‘leave no vacancy behind’ — a cruel slogan for the millions of Americans being left behind as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc on our health and economy. Unqualified nominees and partisan red lines aren’t going to pay for rent or groceries for the millions who are struggling, or ensure firefighters and police officers can continue working to keep their communities safe and healthy. But McConnell only cares about only two things: helping his special interest donors and preserving his majority in the Senate,” said Joshua Karp of Fix Our Senate. “McConnell needs to end the culture of corruption, stop his relentless partisanship and focus the Senate’s time and energy on providing health and economic security to every American during this national crisis.
